Cheque
- Cheques allow you to pay a person or business with a written instruction. Cheques always go through a system called ‘clearing’. This means that we check whether there is sufficient money in the person who wrote the cheque’s account to make the payment. If they do, we say that a cheque has ‘cleared’. More information about our cheque clearing times can be found on our cheque clearing page
- Cheques can be paid in at any TSB branch, via the TSB Mobile Banking App or the Post Office. To learn how to deposit a cheque using the TSB Mobile Banking App, please see our how to page
- Cheques are an alternative to cash or card payments. You might find it helpful to have a look at our overdraft pages to see what services we offer to prevent an unarranged overdraft
- No limits subject to available funds in your account
- Please note - not all TSB current accounts have cheque books. Please see your Product Terms and Conditions

How do I make a payment?
You can transfer money between accounts and make payments through our mobile app, internet bank, telephone bank and in a branch.
To make a payment in the mobile app, tap "Move money" and then follow the steps on the screen.
To make a payment through Internet Banking, select the account you want to make the payment from and then select "Make a payment" to make a payment to a third party and follow the steps on screen.
To transfer money between TSB accounts, select "Make a quick transfer". You will then be shown the accounts you have under “my accounts”. You can use “Make a transfer” to move money to those accounts only.
If you'd like to do this on the phone, you must already be registered for Telephone Banking. Call us on 03459 758 758 and have your account details handy.
If you prefer to speak to us face-to-face, visit one of our branches and a TSB colleague will help you.
